My 19-year-old client was facing a four-count information: Attempted First Degree Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery, Shooting or Throwing a Deadly Missile, and Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile Delinquent Found to Have Committed a Felony Act.
If convicted, he would have spent the rest of his life in prison.
Through countless motions, long days of preparation, and a difficult trial, we persevered. The jury listened, weighed the evidence, and delivered justice.
I am both excited and deeply thankful—to the jurors who took their duty seriously, to the process, and to the opportunity I have every day to stand beside people in some of the darkest moments of their lives.
This case was a powerful reminder of why I do what I do: ensuring every client has a voice and a fair chance.
My client was facing up to five years in prison. He had been strip searched, recorded on body cameras, and even searched again once he was brought to jail. Still—no money, no drugs, nothing was ever found on him.
I carefully reviewed every second of video, every detail of the officers’ reports, and prepared this case for trial. Knowing the State could not prove its allegations, I stood ready to fight.
In the end, the Assistant State Attorney dismissed the case.
I am grateful—for the chance to defend my client, for the reminder that preparation is everything, and for the opportunity to protect the rights of those who otherwise might not have a voice.
